ELECTROPHORETIC PRODUCT RANGE
LACQUERS
Acrylic Thin Coat Lacquer (LB30):
Available as 30% solids to use as clear coating or with in-tank dye or post dye coating system. Film thickness can be from 3 to 10 micron and passes 400 acetone rubs. It has quick even adhesion and is tolerant to solvent. It is also good for clear coating on silver flashed as it does not yellow in oven if cured at 130c. Suitable for quick mass production low cost products such as costume jewellery etc.
Acrylic Thick Coat Lacquer (TC30):
Available as 30% solids to use as clear coating or with in-tank dye or post dye coating system. Film thickness can be from 3 to 10 micron and passes 500 acetone rubs. It has quick even adhesion and is tolerant to solvent. Suitable for hardware and quick mass production low cost products such as costume jewellery etc.
Polyurethane Lacquer (HB50):
It is available as 50% solids to use with dye or clear coating. Film thickness can be from 3 to 24 micron which passes 1,000 acetone rubs. Suitable for products which require higher resistance.
Polyurethane Low Cure Lacquer (LC25)- Suitable for Clear Coating and has good Clarity :
Available as 25% solids for clear coating. Film thickness can be from 3 to 24 micron and passes 500 acetone rubs. It cures from 120 °C. If cured at 130c or 140c the presperation resistance improves without any loss of clarity.
Acrylic Anodic Lacquer (Anodic50):
It is available as 50% solids to use with dye or clear coating. Film thickness can be from 3 to 24 micron which passes 1,000 acetone rubs. Suitable for products which require higher resistance.
Polyurethane High Performance Lacquer (PU HB30):
It is available as 30% solids to use with dye, pigment or clear coating. Film thickness can be from 20 micron which passes > 1,500 acetone rubs. Suitable for products which require higher resistance.
Electrolytic Chrome Passivation
For Non Yellowing Clear coating and to Improve corrosion Resistance, Electrolytic Chrome Passivation is necessary on Brass and Silver so that products can be cured even at 160c. Use Shinex Electrolytic Chrome Passivation solution before lacquering. Electrolytic Chrome Passivation solution can be used on Brass. Nickel, Copper, Stainless steel, Zinc die-castings, Aluminium, even directly on steel and even on silver. This pre stage process Improves Corrosion resistance and Reduces yellowing of brass. Shinex Electrolytic Chrome Passivation Solution is diluted as 1 part to 4 parts of de-min water. Products are dipped in solution using electrolytic system before lacquering. This process can be applied to any shinex electrophoretic lacquer.

DYES AND PIGMENTS
We supply two types of dyes for electrophoretic cathodic and anodic lacquers as (a) In-lacquer dye and (b) post dye system.
(a) Solventbase In-Lacquer Dyes for cathodic and Anodic lacquer. Colours available are Red, Yellow, Brass, Gold, Copper, Tint Black, Blue, Green, Pink. Typical addition would be 20ml or 30ml for low solid lacquers and 50 to 60 ml to high solid lacquers. (Addition process- add suggested amounts to 1 litre of concentrate lacquer before diluting with demineralised water).
-------------------------------------------
Pigments for cathodic and anodic lacquers are available as Solid Black, White etc.
(a) Black pigment: for solid black colour, add 1 part of black pigment additive (Pigment) to 11 parts of concentrate lacquer. The ratio of addition would also depend on thickness of coating. It could be from 10% to 20% of concentrate. It requires good agitation of 4 to 6 times bath turnover per hour. Film thickness would be 20 to 24 micron. It is Non Hazardous.
(b)White pigment: for solid white colour, add 1 part of white pigment additive (Pigment) to 3 parts of concentrate lacquer. The ratio of addition would also depend on thickness of coating. Pigments are heavier and may settle down in bottom of tank hence It requires good agitation of 8 to 10 times bath turnover per hour. Film thickness would be 20 to 24 micron. It is Hazardous, UN1866, Class 3, Packing Group III.
