Technical Information >> (5B) Lacquer coating on Anodising

Lacquering on Anodised product is possible as continuation of anodising process and instead of sealing after anodising lacquering is done which acts as sealant as well as protective film.
Anodising is a controlled oxidation process. During process you are forming aluminium oxide on surface by dipping in sulphuric acid. The duration of how long you anodise will increase oxidisation. The pores are open at this point and to seal components are dropped in boiling water or use similar other process.
At this unseal stage, that is instead of dropping components in boiling water, lacquering can be done using cathodic or anodic lacquer. Anodic lacquers are preferred option.
